The Berkman is named in honor of Mrs. Daisy Louise Berkman Plummer – philanthropist, champion of the arts, and wife of Mayo Clinic co-founder Dr. Henry Stanley Plummer. Daisy was an extraordinary woman, dedicated to improving the lives of those around her and to strengthening the Rochester community as a whole.

A concert pianist and Red Cross leader, Daisy was a steadfast patron of the arts; stories abound of her creativity, generosity and strong work ethic. She went above and beyond to care for others; she opened her home to all and helped establish Rochester’s thriving philanthropic culture, which continues today.

By naming our brand after Daisy, we honor her compassion and kindness, intelligence, and adventurous spirit for which she is known. The Berkman celebrates her legacy and continues to uphold a committment to incredible hospitality and community.
