About this artwork
A life-size bronze grouping of four children playing timeless games — hopscotch, jump rope, marbles, and tag. Installed near the playground at Soldiers Memorial Park, the piece invites adults to remember childhood and children to see art as part of play.
The Story
Rodriguez cast the figures using community members' children as models. The jump-rope girl's face is that of his daughter. The piece was dedicated to Rochester elementary school teacher Linda Pearce, who taught at Jefferson Elementary for 32 years before retiring in 2017.
