About this artwork
A dramatic bronze grouping of five Canada geese taking flight from Silver Lake. The composition captures the exact moment of departure — wings spread, necks extended — honoring the thousands of geese that winter at Silver Lake each year.
The Story
Woodward spent three winters photographing the Silver Lake geese population before beginning the casting process. The piece was funded through a public subscription campaign organized by the Rochester Park Friends organization. It remains one of the most photographed public artworks in Olmsted County.
About the Artist
