About this artwork
A sweeping LED neon installation depicting native prairie grasses, coneflowers, and blazing star wildflowers. Best experienced at dusk when 240 individually addressable LED elements activate in a slow, programmatic sequence that mimics wind moving through a prairie field.
The Story
Morrison spent a summer photographing Zumbro Valley prairies before digitizing the forms into his custom LED programming system. The lighting sequence changes seasonally — spring shows new growth, fall shifts to amber and gold. The piece has become a top Instagram location in Rochester.
